TGIF….
Right so it’s the end of the week… the end of 3 weeks working here at IBM. More or less a month of working. I have received my first measly cheque, I have sat on my ass for at least 8 hours a day, has had no problems with the work load and freezed my toes off everyday other day.
For one, I have to thank my friends for keeping company for the last 3 weeks… and the internet.
I would definitely have to thank Jarad for accompanying me everyday…. he is the one I talk to religiously every morning. In the last few days, the other guys have been chatting with me and preventing me from running around this office naked to drown my boredom.
I have fallen in love… with CNN…. the news online keeps me company for at least an hour every morning. Then there is Mabel’s blog, although she doesn’t update it everyday, she always makes me laugh when she does.

And so…. tonight my dear old sister is flying off to Australia…. she’ll be going to Melbourne on the weekend with the brother-in-law due to work and since they have not seen each other for over a month (maybe more), he is definitely not going to leave her in Brisbane while he goes off to Melbourne. I have already requested for gifts to be sent here when they can be… (yes, the minute someone I knw is going overseas, I wipe out my shopping list)… Cotton Ons and Undies… for some odd but wonderful reason, my eldest sister is only good for buying those.
Last night, my sister and I were on the way home from dinner with our parents and the topic of her having kids came up. It’s been coming up for the last 2 years… i think.
She began sprouting her excitement that her kids are going to be mixed… I just call them “Rojak” and USUALLY rojak kids (especially the ones with Chinese and Caucasian blood) turn out pretty good looking but I have seen cases where something was put in wrong and they don’t turn out very good looking. I have seen my fair share of Rojaks in secondary school…. we had plenty of them…
Yes so back to our conversation, my grandmother is like 70 or 80 or something and I always thought it would be wonderful if she could meet another great grandchild before anything happened to her so I asked my sister when she would come back if she got pregnant. Also…. my parents would die just to see and hold their first grandbaby…. you know how grandparents get. And I know my sister, she does not want her kids to be born in Singapore, especially if it were to be a boy. To add to that, she hates crying babies on a plane (they don’t knw how to handle the ear blockage when the plane takes off and lands… so they cry like no ones business)… BUT she does want to come back with her kid so that she show it off to the relatives how cute it is… being rojak and all. Because, my dad’s side of the family has the tendency to compare their kids… especially with the older kids… the younger ones not so much.
(Honestly every time I hear her gloat like that, some part of me wants the kid to come out butt ugly…. but then again… I do not, what so ever want an ugly niece or nephew… so I’m torn here….)
So I suggested to her that since babies are usually the cutest stage of a humans’ life, she should bring it over when it’s still a baby and not walking and talking. She turned and asked my dad when in a baby’s life is it the cutest and the answer is…. 4 to 6 months… Therefore, my darling sister has planned to return to the Island of no gum and ridiculous people when her kid/s are at least 4 to 6 months. And when the time comes, her nose will be sticking up in the air like there is a constant spell of sweet aroma lingering around her and I will be definitely wishing her kids came out butt ugly.

Yesterday my boredom buddy (Jarad) started talking about…. news!! Yes, the news… and the subject on the escaped terrorist came up…
I have been keeping myself updated with news all over the world but I have leaving out… Singapore. So this man who is suspected to be a terrorist…. escaped… from a detention center when he went to the damn toilet. Now forgive if I seem ignorant on the matter… and the press isn’t revealing very much information about the event only that he escape when he wanted to go to the loo… but… erm…. why in the world is he in a damn detention center and not a prison???
He has been labeled to be Singapore’s MOST wanted man and all he gets is the walls in the detention center and a toilet trip that it is apparently located somewhere on the ground of the center. Right now, if he was in Changi prison… he damn loo would be 2 feet away from him!!!!!!!! And the government wouldn’t be in such a mess right now.
Don’t go sprouting excuses…that the prisons are over crowded and what nonsense…. cause Changi prison is not over crowded… unless Singaporeans are unaware of many crimes committed… and many people behind bars. Now I am more pissed off than scared about this whole incident… the lack of fear could be due to the fact that SG has never come across such a predicament and if i was left in Amercia or some other country I would probably be the first to die.
And another thing…. he escaped while in the toilet??? Come on people… what, he told the guard he’s shy…???? He can’t pee with someone watching???? OMG!!!!!!!!! I don’t care if he’s shy or what not but either he pees with a guard in sight or not pee at all!
I can imagine the poor people living in Bukit Timah must have felt very scared over the last few days…. and besides, singapore is not big at all so he could be anywhere.
*sigh*…. and on what Mr Wong said… yes this shouldn’t have happened…
